Xinjiang

Xinjiang (New Province) or Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) was officially annexed by China in 1884 CE (1301 AH). It was previously known as Uyghurstan or East Turkistan.
Xinjiang is the largest province in China being 640,000 square kilometers and represents one sixth of present day China.

[edit] Early Period
Between 104 BC (748 BH) and 751 CE (133 AH) There where six invasions of Uyghurstan by the Chinese Han, which resulted in the Chinese occupation for approximately 157 years of the 800 year period.
- During Wu ti era, General Li Kuang occupied Uyghurstan in 104 BC (748 BH), but the people of Uyghurstan regained their independence in 86 BC (730 BH) by defeating the Chinese solders.
- During the Hsuan Ti era, General Chang Chi attacked Uyghurstan and occupied it in 59 BC (702 BH) But in 10 BC (651 BH) the Khans of Uyghurstan defeated the Chinese armies and Uyghurstan was back under Turkic Rulership
- During the Ming Ti era of the Second Khan Dynasty, General Pan Chao started an internal war attacking Uyghurstan in 73 CE (566 BH). This war lasted for 28 years. In 102 CE (536 BH) Pan Chao returned to China, and a year later his son, Pan Yung, escaped after having been defeated by the Khans of Uyghurstan. Thus Uyghurstan once again regained her security and independence.
- During the Topa (Wei) era, the east part of Uyghurstan was obliged to submit tax to Imperial China from 448 CE (179 BH) to 460 CE (167 BH).
- In 657 CE (36 AH) Kau Tsung of the Tang Dynasty conquered Uyghurstan, and in 699 CE (79 AH) the Gok Turk Khans drove out the Chinese from Uyghurstan.
- In 747 CE (129 AH) Hsuan Tsung dispatched the Korean General Kao Sien-chi as a commander of a Chinese army to help some of the Uyghur Khans who were fighting among themselves in Uyghurstan. This General, taking advantage of Uyghuristan's internal unrest and playing a very skillful and ruthless role, managed to incite a number of Uyghuristan people to kill each other, and in such a way subjected Uyghuristan to China. But the inhabitants of Uyghuristan, obtaining help from Arabs, destroyed the forces of Kao Sien-chi and won their freedom in 751 CE (133 AH).

- in 1949 CE (1368 AH) Uyghurstan was occupied by communist China and the name was changed to XAUR in 1955 CE (1374 AH)
