The European Slavers opperated on the coasts of Africa, fearing to venture inland. Africans who traded in Slaves brought the slaves to the coast. Upon Arrival

  • Slaves where branded with a hot metal rod
  • Stripped naked (in part to prevent suicide by hanging but also as part of the dehuminisation process)
  • chained together
  • packed into holds of the ships
  • barely adequate food and water
  • brought to the decks and made to dance
  • frequently beaten
  • sanitation facilities non existent
  • sick and injured , who were deemed to frail to bring a good price were thrown overboard.
  • In the cases of pregnant women who delivered babies on boards, the babies were immediately cast overboard. See Ball's Muslim
  • 10%-20% of all slaves died in transit to the Americas.
