• 26^th July 657 (5^th Safar 37); Ali Ben Abu Talib fights Muawiyah over the Caliphate of Islam and captures Anbar, Battle of Siffin.

• 14^th October 1953 (5^th Safar 1373) - Qibya Massacre. Israeli forces destroy the West Bank village of Qibya killing 69 civilian men women and children.

• 25^th December 1979 (5^th Safar 1400) Soviets deploy the 40th Army into Afghanistan
