Mw:How To Write an Article
From Mw
Writing an article can seem quite daunting. It can be even more daunting for an Islamic article, because as Muslims we recognise that we will be asked on the Day of Judgment if we spread any falsehood, or led people astray by innacurately portraying Islam.

[edit] Using sources for articles on the deen
The MuslimWiki is an encyclopedia, so it is here to catalouge and record the various subjects on Islam, using verifiable sources. As long as we write an article that is based on a scholars works, using referenced sources, then we will not be innovating in our religion. True the scholar may not be recognised by all, but the wiki allows you to write a page on the scholar, stating what people of knowledge have said about him, who he learnt from, who his students where, what opinons he had that where considered controversial, etc.
[edit] Using sources for general articles
There is not so much need for rigorous referencing when it comes to say articles on Islam by country, as these only require a source from an already written article.
[edit] Articles under construction
Generally articles will be added to, cleaned up and ammended, and so it is perfectly valid to start an article and finish it later. The MuslimWiki is okay with half-finished articles as it is less daunting to work on a skeleton article than a completely new one.
[edit] Recommended starting points
The MuslimWiki recommends that an editor finds a subject he is interested in, and then uses a book, lecture, or an article to base his works on. As long as the source isn't copied outright and is referenced, than it is perfectly okay. After all, it isn't the facts that are copyrighted just the expression of the facts.
