Introduction

One of the major components of Islam, along with the Islamic Creed (set of Beliefs) is the five pillars

These Five pillars represent the absolute basic actions that a Muslim is expected to perform. They include Shahada, Salat, Zakat, Hajj and Fasting.

Shahada is the oral testification of the belief in Allah and his Messenger Muhammed .

la illah il lallah Muhammed ar-[[Rasool] Allah. No God, but God and Muhammed is his Messenger

The five daily prayers, the fard prayers, the sunnah prayers, special occasion prayers

Zakat is the compulsury alms giving to the poor. It is based on a persons assets , and not income.

Hajj is the pilgramage to Mecca and is compulsory on everymuslim who is able to undertake the journey .

Fasting is the abstanance of food and water from sunrise to sunset during the month of Ramadan
