Dubailand part of Dubai Holding, is an entertainment complex under development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Construction of Dubailand has been divided into four phases. Work is currently been carried out on phase one of the project which is expected to see completion some time between 2006 and 2007. A few of the Dubailand facilities like the Dubai Autodrome and The Global Village are already operational.

Dubailand is part of Dubais economic diversification programme that has been championed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This diversification aims to turn Dubai from an oil based economy to a knowledge based economy. As part of the drive to attract foreign investment and knowledge transfer, Dubai is developing a huge tourist infrastructure and living infrastructure, as well as state of the art technology and science based industries.
Dubailand was officially announced in 23rd October 2003 (26th Shaban 1424) and is planned to be twice the size of Walt Disney World. The funding for the project has been predominantly from the private sector with at least $4.9 billion raised .

[edit] Falcoln City of Wonders
The Falcon City of Wonders is one of the many theme projects in Dubailand. Costing an estimated $1.5 billion . It is built around the iconic structures of the modern world and the wonders of the ancient world. The iconic structures, all of which will be built to a larger size than the originals, include The Eiffel Tower from Paris, The Pyramids from Egypt, The Leaning Tower of Pisa from Rome, The Taj Mahal built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan from India, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon one of the ancient wonders of the world, Venice modeled on the real Venice in Italy, and the LightHouse, another ancient wonder of the world.
The project is to be built upon 40 Hectares of land, and will incorporate many Residential villas as part of the project, styled as Mediterranean Aegean, Spanish Andalusia, American New World and Latin\Mexican Santa Fe
[edit] Al Balwadi
To cater for the huge theme park that is Dubailand, a strip of themed hotels Al Balwadi is being built to a cost of AED 100 billion, 60 billion of which is invested by private investors. The hotels are to be built on 139 million sq ft, and are expected to cater for the large number of tourists attracted to Dubai and Dubailand.
The Hotels are to be themed and grouped by location. The groups include Asia, Americas, Europe, Africa , Middle East and Universal to reflect everything else.

The Dubai Autodrome is the region's first fully integrated motorsports facility. The complex, a part of the Union Properties Motorcity development, not only includes an FIA sanctioned 5.39km circuit, which offers six different configurations, but also incorporates a Race & Driving school and a CIK approved Karting track.
Officially inaugurated in October 2004 when it hosted the final round of the FIA GT Championship, the Dubai Autodrome is designed to accommodate all types of motosports events from world class to local. This multi-purpose complex also serves as an ideal setting for concerts and corporate events, whether conferences, seminars, or motoring exhibitions.
Built to world-class standards, the Dubai Autodrome offers manufacturers and racing teams a perfect location for testing, prototype development, vehicle demonstrations, product launches, driver training, and hot weather car research for international manufacturers

Sports City, the world's first purpose-built sports city, will incorporate state-of-the-art sporting venues and academies along with residential and commercial developments. These will combine to offer a world class venue for sports events and activities at all levels with a residential lifestyle unrivalled in the region and possibly the world.
Construction of Dubai Sports City is well under way and with the first sports facilities and homes being completed by late 2007, the future of sport and the future of living is nearer than you might think.

Dubai is building a $1.7 billion Golf City The project will be housed on 55 million square feet, and willl be constructed by Benna and Dubailand.
Five themed golf courses are expected to be built, along with a golf academy and six star resorts and spas.In addition various golf retail outlets and a golf village will be created.

The City of Arabia is a $2 billon development over an estimated 2 million sq ft. It will include the largest shopping mall in the region
The 50/50 joint venture between Gulf Leighton LLC, a subsidiary of Leighton Asia (Southern) and Kier Dubai LLC, a part of the UK Kier Group plc, will construct 15km of roads in and around the development, five road bridges, and 120km of underground services.
