Dubai Healthcare city was launched on 5th November 2002 (29th Shaban 1423) and is expected to be fully operational by 2010. Launched by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum the project is expected to cost US $1.8 billion.
Dubai Healthcare is a city dedicated to medicine. It is expected to specialise in cardiology and oncology, urology, ophthalmology, pediatrics and orthopedics. It will also include medical education and a research center, for clinical research.

As an integrated centre for medical services of international quality standards, DHCC will be the regional hub for patients, healthcare professionals and medical businesses for a catchment area of 1.8 billion people – a potential healthcare market estimated at US$74 million. To be the world’s first centre for medical excellence, it takes investment and endorsement by the best medical names in the business. Backed by a capital expenditure investment of AED350 million to construct a foundation worthy of a truly world-class facility, along with strategic alliances with some of the most highly respected medical names in the world (Harvard Medical School Dubai Center, Mayo Clinic)[1] |

University Hospital
- Specialist hospital focusing on cardiology, oncology, and selected other medical disciplines
