• 29^th August 1179 (17^th Rabbi al-Awwal 575) - Saladin captures the castle at Bait al-Ahazon and approximately 700 prisoners are captured.

• 29^th August 1966 (12^th Jumada al-Ula 1386) - Sayyid Qutb, Egyptian intellectual author, and Islamist associated with the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood is executed after being found guilty of plotting to overthrow the state.
