in 1768 CE (1181 AH) A Muslim, unnamed in census records, wrote four Surahs from the Qu'ran. He was enslaved to a Captain David Anderson of Georgetown, South Carolina. The manuscript was preserved and translated by the Savannah, Georgia based Orientalist and Berber linguist William Brown Hodgson.
